Arrive at Marangu Gate for trekkers registration before commencing the hike. Begin by ascending through lush tropical rainforest, spotting black & white colobus monkeys and blue monkeys along the way. Arrive at Mandara Huts, nestled amidst the verdant landscape. Day 2: Mandara Huts - Horombo Huts Elevation: 2,700m to 3,720m Distance: 11 km Hiking Time: 6 hours Habitat: Moorland Continue the trek through the forest, emerging into high moorland. Marvel at towering plants like giant lobelia and giant groundsel. Catch sight of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, two of Kilimanjaro's volcanic peaks. Spend the night at Horombo Huts. Day 3: Mawenzi Ridge (Acclimatization Day) Elevation: 3,720m to 4,390m to 3,720m Distance: 10 km Hiking Time: 6 hours Habitat: Moorland Spend the day acclimatizing by hiking on Mawenzi Ridge and/or the Maundi Crater. Day 4: Horombo Huts - Kibo Huts Elevation: 3,720m to 4,720m Distance: 9 km Hiking Time: 6 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert Trek gradually through moorland, crossing the lunar desert of the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Arrive at Kibo Huts, situated at the base of the Kibo crater wall. Prepare for the summit day with an early dinner. Kibo Huts | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 5: Kibo Huts - Uhuru Peak - Horombo Huts (Summit Day) Elevation: 4,720m to 5,895m to 3,720m Distance: 21 km Hiking Time: 13 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert to Arctic to Moorland Begin the ascent to Uhuru Peak around midnight. Trek in darkness with headlamps, taking short breaks. Witness a spectacular sunrise at Gilman’s point (5,685m) before reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Day 6: Horombo Huts - Marangu Gate Elevation: 3,720m to 1,880m Distance: 19 km Hiking Time: 6 hours Habitat: Rain Forest Descend through the tropical rainforest to Marangu Gate. Collect your Summit Certificate and transfer back to your Arusha hotel for a hot shower and relaxation.
